When a child who has experienced the trauma of losing a parent can still have a “best day”, you’ve impacted their life in a positive way.
Robin’s Nest provides a reprieve from the loss that comes from grief…it gives children the opportunity to have a “best” day again.
Robin’s Nest is a monthly activity-based program designed to help grieving children feel normal and smile again. Many times the support a family receives after the death of a loved one fades as life returns to “normal” for others. However, for those grieving the loss, their life is forever changed and they no longer feel “normal.”
Children often feel like the “odd man out” when participating in activities with peers who have not experienced such a loss. Through Robin’s Nest, children participate in educational activities with a comfortable peer group. Robin’s Nest provides that hope for children (and their parents) that they really can feel “normal” again. Robin’s Nest provides opportunities for children to learn skills that may otherwise have been taught by the deceased parent or loved one.
