What is Grief?

Grief is:

  • The pain felt in response to the death of someone we love
  • A normal response to loss
  • Unique to each person: Every individual grieves differently
  • There is no right or wrong way to grieve
  • A process that has no timeline; each person grieves and heals at different rates, in different ways
  • It is NOT a sign of weakness, a disorder, or a disease
  • It is a journey filled with highs and lows, much like a roller-coaster
  • Can continue to be experienced throughout our lifetime, at different milestones, holidays, etc…

We have the tools to work through grief.

With supportive materials and expertise, the journey to healing can be eased.

Information is powerful. Powerful enough to make accomplishments. Powerful for healing.

Michael’s Place maintains an extensive collection of resources for adults, teens and children. Our materials include fiction and non-fiction, spiritual, and practical information – all with the intention of providing comfort to those who grieve.
Other resources we offer to individuals, families and organizations include:

  • Brochures
  • Grief information and handouts
  • Professional, knowledgeable speakers for meetings or seminars
  • Training for those who assist grieving individuals
  • And much, much more…

Contact us at (231) 947-6453 to request all the materials you need.

In some cases, healing requires teamwork. Michael’s Place relies on several area agencies to contribute to the support of grieving families. Call our office and speak with grief support staff who can help connect you with resources to meet your needs.
